FlowerZmag was founded in 2020 by lead creator, Nicolas Testa. Flowerz came from humble beginnings, as a blog, with initial goal of amplifying the voices of queer artists in Testa’s home town. Growing up in a small town in New Jersey, Testa felt that representing these voices was imperative to shaping the art world of tomorrow. Testa felt a similar necessity when they moved to the city of Philadelphia. A place like Philadelphia is saturated with art. It's painted on our walls, it echoes in our basements, and it keeps this city moving. Documenting and understanding the independent artists of the great city of Philadelphia is the main goal of Flowerzmag. Along the way, Flowerz hopes to create content which supplements that documentation with news, stories, and games. There is one unifying goal of this publication: representing the community of small artists in Philadelphia.
